As expected, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab S range of tablets at an event in New York. The new range consists of Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and the tablets’ claim to fame is its super thin chassis (6.6mm) and the integration of a Super AMOLED display panel. The 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch Super AMOLED displays also support WQXGA (2560×1600) along with 90% of Adobe RGB color coverage, 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and two pre-set display modes – AMOLED Cinema and AMOLED Photo.
Both tablets boast the same perforated back as the Galaxy S5 and come with an Exynos 5 Octa or Snapdragon 800 processor (depending on the Wi-Fi or LTE variant), 3GB RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat on board, 8 megapixel main camera, 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, infrared port for universal remote control, 16 or 32GB internal memory, microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB and 4900mAh battery (Galaxy Tab S 8.4) or 7900mAh battery (Galaxy Tab S 10.5).
Samsung is also enhancing the tablet with other features like fingerprint scanner, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Multi User Mode, Kids Mode, PaperGarden, Call Forwarding via SideSync 3.0 and bunch of Galaxy Gifts to offer free content to users.
The Galaxy Tab S will go on sale from next month in Wi-Fi and LTE variant in Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White along with accessories like Book Cover, Simple Cover and a Bluetooth Keyboard. US will get the Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab from next month for $499 (10.5-inch) and $399 (8.4-inch).
