Samsung has expanded its Gear lineup with the Gear Live that was announced at the Google I/O today. Unlike the current Gear 2 smartwatches that run Tizen, the new Gear Live is powered by Android Wear.
The Gear Live takes advantage of Google’s Android Wear platform that shows information and suggestions in real-time. Android Wear also supports updates from apps, voice commands and works with any device running Android 4.3 or higher.
On the hardware front, Gear Live is more or less similar to the Gear 2 range with IP67 certification, 1.63-inch 320×320 Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, heart rate monitor and 300mAh battery.
The Gear Live will be up for pre-order on the Google Play Store for $199.99 and will release in the US on July 7 on the Play Store, Best Buy and Amazon.
