Samsung, Microsoft looking to settle ongoing lawsuit

Samsung and Microsoft are looking to settle their latest patent-related dispute, according to a report by Korea Times. An unnamed “industry official” claims Samsung and Microsoft have resumed “working-level discussions” to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Microsoft in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. Samsung and Microsoft have declined to comment on the issue but Samsung expects a “comprehensive cross-licensing deal” since Microsoft needs some essential wireless patents from Samsung while the Korean company needs to pay to the Redmond giant for the use of Android-related patents in its Galaxy range of devices.

Earlier this month, Microsoft publicly announced to take legal action against Samsung after Samsung decided to stop complying with the agreement they signed in 2011.
