Nokia-owned HERE service were teasing a collaboration with Samsung and they’ve finally announced to bring their turn-by-turn offline navigation service for Samsung devices. While Samsung did confirm during the Gear S announcement that the smartwatch will take advantage of HERE’s navigation data, the app “HERE for Gear” will work with any Tizen-powered smartphones and wearables by Samsung.
But this is not the exciting part of the announcement. In a separate post, HERE also announced the availability of the service to Samsung Galaxy smartphones. As part of the licensing agreement, HERE will be available for free on compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones like the Galaxy S, enabling users to enjoy voice-guided navigation in 200 countries.
The HERE app for Galaxy smartphones will be released when Gear S starts retailing in October.
