Samsung’s virtual reality ambitions weren’t really a secret and today alongside the new Galaxy Notes, Samsung announced Gear VR – their first mobile virtual reality headset. Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition (as it’s called) runs Oculus VR software and as suspected, the accessory will need another smartphone, in this case, the Galaxy Note 4 to harness the virtual reality capabilities.
With Gear VR and Galaxy Note 4’s 5.7-inch Quad HD display, users will be able to enjoy a full 360 3D video, play immersive games and do more.
More content will be available through the Oculus Store but Samsung will also bundle a 16GB microSD card with a collection of videos and trailers.
No word on the price but expect the device make its way through online channels and carriers later this year.
