Samsung has begun mass production of its 3.2TB NVMe SSDs based on Samsung’s proprietary 3D V-NAND technology. Samsung says the new drive will be used in high-end enterprise server systems that will drastically improve performance and reliability.
The new NVMe PCIe SSD, SM1715 is a follow up to the award winning XS1715 SSD and comes in an HHHL (half-height, half-length) card-type form factor, helping them to double the storage capacity. The drive’s sequential read speed stands at 3,000MB/s and write speed at up to 2,200MB/s. The random read/write IOPS are 75,000/130,000 respectively.
The 3.2TB SSD is highly reliable as it boasts 10 DWPDs (drive writes per day) for five years, which is a much needed feature in an enterprise environment.
