While there was no sight of the Galaxy Note Edge except for a brief confirmation, Samsung did announce the Gear S smartwatch for the Indian market. The standalone smartwatch will go on sale alongside Galaxy Note 4 and unlike the previous Gear smartwatches, it works without having to connect to a smartphone. The smartwatch will retail for around Rs. 28,900 (MRP Rs. 29,500) and brings in 3G functionality, a 2-inch 360×480 display and a platform running Tizen OS.
Furthermore, the smartwatch is IP67 certified to keep it safe from water and dust, is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and features Bluetooth, GPS, 4GB internal memory, Heart-rate sensor, UV Sensor, Barometer and 300mAh battery that will give about 2 days of battery life.
Gear S also gets some Gear-specific apps like HERE Maps, S Health, Nike+ Running, S Voice, Power Saving Mode and even Opera Mini.
