Samsung generally announces management reshuffle at the end of the year and according to a Wall Street Journal report, we can expect some major changes this year. The financial daily claims JK Shin, current co-CEO of Samsung Electronics and mobile division head could move out from managing the mobile division. It was under Shin’s leadership that Samsung became the world’s biggest smartphone player but is currently in a huge crisis to stop the flagging sales of its smartphones.
The report pins BK Yoon, also the co-CEO and home-appliance and television business head to overtake Shin’s responsibility for an efficient workaround.
The report says overprojected Galaxy S5’s demand and even produced 20 percent more devices than Galaxy S4 but sold about 40 percent less than the projection.
Another interesting tidbit from the article is how Samsung is working on a succession plan to put Lee Kun-hee’s son, Jay Y. Lee at the helm. Jay Y Lee has been grooming for the top job for a few years and the appointment seems nigh considering Lee Kun-hee has been under hospitalisation since May.
