Samsung has started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F). First spotted by SamMobile, the site notes this is one of the fastest software release by Samsung that took just about 31 days for Samsung to update its device after Google dropping the AOSP code for Lollipop in early November.
Interestingly, the update is available only in Poland that is generally considered the test bed for software updates before rolling out to other regions. Another thing to note is Samsung going with the Galaxy S5 for the latest Android update and not the current flagship, which is Galaxy Note 4.
A wild guess would be Samsung is still optimising the build for its higher-resolution phones and could bode well with existing Full HD devices like Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4.
Nevertheless, this is certainly good news for consumers. According to previous leaks, we know Samsung will do away with blue/black combo for TouchWiz and will instead adopt a similar design to Google’s stock build that sports Material Design.
