A report by Reuters yesterday claimed that Samsung was in talks with BlackBerry to acquire the Canadian company by paying up to $15.49 per share or a total value equaling around $7.5 billion. The news is interesting because it came from a credible source and even claimed that executives from both the companies “met last week to discuss a potential transaction.”
Now, both companies have come forward to deny the acquisition with Samsung going on record to Reuters rubbishing its previous report as “groundless.”
BlackBerry issued a separate statement saying they are aware of the media report but has “not engaged in discussions with Samsung with respect to any possible offer to purchase BlackBerry.”
