Samsung India has been awarded with the Golden Peacock Award for its work towards the development of children’s education and skills. Samsung was recognised for the award for its effort to set up Samsung Smart Class and Samsung Technical Schools in the country.
Samsung Smart Classes are currently set up in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas that are equipped with Samsung Smart board and laptops to enable students learn in a digital, interactive environment.
Samsung Technical Schools, on the other hand, have been set up in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Departments of Technical Education in Delhi and West Bengal. The 15 Technical Schools that are currently operational enable youth to gain technical skills, helping them to seek job opportunities in the growing consumer electronics manufacturing and service sector.
The Golden Peacock Awards are bestowed annually under various categories since 1991 and are recognised worldwide as the hallmark of corporate excellence in areas of innovation, quality, training, governance, environment management and corporate social responsibility.
