At an event in New Delhi today, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge for the Indian market. Expected to go on sale on April 10, the Galaxy S6 starts from Rs. 49,900 while the Galaxy S6 edge starts from Rs. 58,900. The 64GB and 128GB Galaxy S6 will sell for Rs. 55,900 and Rs. 61,900 respectively whereas the 64GB and 128GB Galaxy S6 edge costs Rs. 64,900 and Rs. 70,900.
Both devices are crafted from metal and glass and features some top-end hardware like that you won’t find in any mobile device currently available in the market. For instance, the Galaxy S6 duo features a 14nm 64-bit Exynos 7420 2.1GHz+1.5GHz octacore processor, 3GB DDR4 RAM, UFS 2.0-based internal memory (starts from 32GB).
Rest of the hardware specs include a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display (2560×1440 pixels), 16 megapixel OIS rear camera with 5 megapixel camera on the front, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, heart rate sensor, fingerprint sensor, infrared sensor and 2550mAh (Galaxy S6) or 2600mAh battery (Galaxy S6 edge).
On the software side, the phones run Android Lollipop with TouchWiz UI and comes with S Health 4.0, Ultra Power Saving Mode and more.
Galaxy S6 customers will also get free data from Airtel.
