Samsung today slyly confirmed the watch face design of its upcoming smartwatch. Unlike previous Gear devices that have adopted a square-ish screen, the upcoming smartwatch will have a round watch face. Samsung also confirmed to give developers a head start to develop apps for this smartwatch, making it the first time for Samsung to release the SDK before the launch of the watch.

Samsung’s Gear range of smartwatches are powered by Tizen OS and given Samsung wants developers to take advantage of the SDK, the upcoming smartwatch will also likely be powered by the same OS. Although the OS is light and efficient, the Tizen-powered smartwatch only works with Samsung devices. Here’s hoping the watch supports non-Samsung devices as well, thus giving a wider market for Samsung to tap on.
