Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a life threatening disease that takes a toll on the patient eventually. And though there’s nothing one can do to cure it, Samsung and 3SG BBDO have developed an app called Backup Memory that helps to slow down the Alzheimer’s side effects.
It is basically a memory recall app that helps the “patient to become aware of immediate surroundings by identifying nearby family members and friends.” Whenever the family member is closer to the patient (Bluetooth range), the app starts showing pictures and other information of the nearby person. The relevant information and pictures needs to be uploaded first through the app.
Tunisian Alzheimer’s Association even tested the app with some Alzheimer’s patients and received some positive feedback that tries to make the patient remember things through cognitive stimulation.
The Backup Memory app is available right now on the Play Store and supports English and French.
