We got a chance to play with Samsung’s super lightweight and compact SSD T1 back at CES and now the company has announced the SSD for the Indian market. The external portable hard drive houses an SSD beneath the black shell that boasts a chrome metal coating and laser patterning.
The SSD T1 features Samsung’s proprietary 3D V-NAND technology that gives sequential read/write speeds of up to 450MB/s with USB 3.0 and random read/write speeds of up to 8,000 inputs/outputs per second (IOPS) and 21,000 IOPS, respectively. In short, a 10GB file can be transferred in 27 seconds compared to 85 seconds on a normal hard drive.
Moreover, the SSD T1 features user-set password support with AES 256-bit hardware encryption to keep the data safe, can even withstand bumps and drops with a shock resistance of up to 1500G/0.5ms since the SSD does not have moving parts and has Dynamic Thermal Guard that gets activated to protect the drive and the data in extreme temperature conditions.
The SSD T1 works with Windows and Mac out of the box and comes in capacities of 250GB, 500GB and 1TB priced at Rs. 12,000, Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 35,000 respectively. All variants come with 3-year warranty.
