Samsung today held the ground breaking ceremony of its new chip production line in South Korea. The new factory will be built in the city of Pyeongtaek and will start production sometime in first half of 2017.
2017 seems far away in this fast-paced technology world but Samsung feels the plant will give them the leverage to move ahead in the semiconductor market compared to the competition.
Samsung has pooled in 15.6 trillion won, which is Samsung’s largest-ever investment for a single plant.
There’s no word as to what Samsung will produce here but the factory will provide employment to over 150,000 citizens.
