Samsung’s rugged variant of the Galaxy S6 is now official as AT&T has announced the phone for US consumers. The Galaxy S6 active will be available from June 12 at various price points, depending on the contract and for a limited time, buyers will also get Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 for free and 50 percent off on Samsung’s wireless charging pad.
The ruggedness of the phone is testified with the IP68 certification and adherence to Mil-STD-810G standard that allows the phone to resist water in 1.5 meters of height for up to 30 minutes and is shock as well as dust resistant. Another major change from the regular Galaxy S6 is the huge battery, which has a capacity of 3500mAh compared to Galaxy S6’s 2600mAh and a dedicated Activity Zone button that gives quick access to compass, flashlight stopwatch.
As far as other features are concerned, the Galaxy S6 active loses the fingerprint sensor but features the same 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, 16 megapixel main camera, 5 megapixel front facing camera and KNOX support.
The phone will be available in Camo White, Camo Blue and Gray colour options.
