Samsung’s Tizen-powered Z1 sales surpass 1 million units

Samsung Z1

Samsung has confirmed that they’ve sold over 1 million units of its entry-level Z1 smartphones. The phone reached the milestone in under six months of its launch and is now being sold in many Asian markets after its release in India.

Samsung India’s Asim Warsi claims the phone fared “better than [their] expectations” and is planning to launch a gold coloured variant next month.

Samsung is also expected to announce a new Tizen device which will be priced in the Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 15,000 category and our best guess is that it will be unveiled at the Tizen Development Summit (TDS) that is scheduled to happen on July 30-31 in Bengaluru, India.

We were not that impressed when we reviewed the Z1 and hope Samsung addresses some of the issues when it opens the developer forum to attract more developers.
