In its fight with Apple in the patent lawsuit case in US, Samsung has garnered some support from companies like Google, Facebook, Dell, HP, eBay and few others. Earlier this month, the companies have filed what is called as “friend of the court” brief that supported Samsung against Apple.
The coalition basically asks why should the patent holding company get the profit from the infringing company’s product where its patented feature or design may not be substantial to the other company’s product, in this case, Apple’s patented feature used in Samsung’s Galaxy devices.
The companies believe that if such a decision is allowed, it will set a bad precedent and have “a devastating impact on companies.”
Expectedly, Apple has disapproved of Google’s involvement saying Google has a “strong interest” in the case and should be dismissed.
While both companies have moved couple of generations ahead in terms of its smartphones, Samsung and Apple have been fighting the legal battle with no end in sight.
