Samsung smartphone users in China will soon get an option that will allow them to delete pre-installed apps from their device. The patch that will enable this functionality will be available at company’s service centers from next month and will be applicable for the SM-N9008S model, better known as Galaxy Note 3 for now. However, Samsung will eventually expand this option to delete unwanted applications to latest devices.
Samsung’s decision to give such an option was actually forced after a consumer rights committee sued Samsung after they restricted users from deleting some apps.
The Chinese Galaxy Note 3 variant came with 44 pre-installed apps but required only 24 to work perfectly.
There’s no word if Samsung will extend a similar olive branch to users outside of China.
