Samsung has announced a new update program that will protect its Galaxy devices from security vulnerabilities in Android OS. The company will release an over the air update to its Galaxy devices about once a month patching any security loopholes that may crop up in the OS.
The fast tracked security updates is a result due to the recent Android Stagefright issue where a hacker could gain control of the targeted smartphone by sending a simple MMS.
Samsung is currently in talks with carriers and partners around the world to implement the new system and it’s a good thing that companies are starting to realising the importance of releasing a security update quickly without leaving it to the mercy of the carrier approval.
With the recent security issues, we have been rethinking the approach to getting security updates to our devices in a more timely manner. Since software is constantly exploited in new ways, developing a fast response process to deliver security patches to our devices is critical to keep them protected. We believe that this new process will vastly improve the security of our devices and will aim to provide the best mobile experience possible for our users
