Shortly after releasing the Galaxy S6 edge+ in the market, Samsung has announced the availability of Galaxy Note5. Successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 4, the phone will be available in the Indian market from September 20 at a price tag of Rs. 53,900 for the 32GB whereas the 64GB variant will sell for Rs. 59,900. In comparison with the Galaxy S6 edge+, the Galaxy Note5 gives users the S Pen functionality with the new clicking mechanism to pop out the S Pen and take down notes without turning on the display. Furthermore, there’s also an enhanced Air Command feature for the improved S Pen.
As far as other features are concerned, the device’s design has been inspired from the Galaxy S6 but has made some subtle changes, like the curved back for a more ergonomic one-handed fit and slim at 7.6mm.
On the hardware side, the Android 5.1 running Galaxy Note5 is powered by Samsung’s 14nm octa-core Exynos processor (2.1GHz + 1.5GHz) and is one of the first devices from Samsung to sport 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. Additionally, the phone comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display (2560×1440), LTE support, 32GB or 64GB internal memory with no expansion slot, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC and MST for Samsung Pay (not yet available in India), fingerprint sensor and heart rate sensor and 3000mAh battery with support for fast charger that charges in up to 90 minutes with an AC adapter or in under 2 hours when charged wirelessly.
Camera-wise, Galaxy Note5 has a 16 megapixel f.19 sensor with a 5 megapixel f1.9 camera on the front. The camera can be launched with two quick press on the home button and comes with Auto HDR, OIS, 4K UHD video recording support and live broadcast in up to Full HD through YouTube Live.
