You read it right, Samsung has agreed to pay Apple damages but with some conditions. According to Foss Patents, yesterday Samsung and Apple filed a joint case management statement with the US District Court for the Northern District of California saying Samsung has “made arrangements” to complete the payment to Apple. Samsung will pay Apple a sum of $548 million by December 14, however, Apple might have to reimburse Samsung in case of any amount to be paid as taxes or if judgement is reversed in future proceedings.

Understandably, Apple does not agree with Samsung’s terms for reimbursement.

The site also reports that a settlement talk between Apple and Samsung on November 2, 2015 resulted in no positive outcome.

Samsung and Apple have been battling it out in the courts across the world since April 2011.
