Samsung’s pocket-sized external portable SSD has got an upgrade this year. Announced at the CES, the Portable SSD T3 now offers up to 2TB of storage, doubling it from last year’s Portable SSD T1.
The new external drive features Samsung’s proprietary Vertical NAND (V-NAND) and SSD TurboWrite technology that helps to copy/read 4K data with ease and reaches up to 450MB/s in sequential transfer speeds with USB 3.1 Type C interface.
The drive weighs just 50g but can withstand up to 1500G of force, thanks to the shock-resistant metal case and internal frame and prevents overheating with the integrated Thermal Guard.
The device uses exFAT file system format, AES 256-bit hardware encryption and is compatible with a complementary Android app that allows to change passwords and see remaining storage.
Samsung has not revealed the price but will be available from next month in United States, China, Korea and select European countries.
