As expected, Samsung took the stage today to announce their new Galaxy S devices – the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. The new phones build on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge with an improved design, better camera and improved software.
Both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are created from 3D glass and metal and now boasts an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The phones now also come with a hybrid SIM slot that allows the phone to insert microSD cards to up to 200GB in size. Moreover, Samsung has integrated a new internal cooling system to keep the device from overheating and new Dual Pixel technology for camera that helps to improve the picture quality.
Speaking of Galaxy S7, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with LTE Cat 9 support, 14nm 64-bit octa-core processor (2.3GHz or 2.15GHz depending on the market), 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with Always-On display, 32 or 64GB of storage, Dual Pixel 12 megapixel f/1.7 camera with OIS, f/1.7 5 megapixel camera, Samsung Pay support, 3000mAh battery with fast charging, fingerprint sensor.
Galaxy S7 edge is the same in terms of hardware except the display, which is a 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED and 3600mAh battery.
Both phones will launch in mid-March.
