Samsung has expanded its embedded memory lineup with the new 256GB memory option. The new memory is targeted at high-end mobile devices and is based on the fast Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 standard.
Faster than a SATA-based SSD for PC, the new UFS memory offers duplex data transfer and has a sequential read speed of up to 850MB/s and sequential writing speed of up to 260MB/s, making it faster than an SSD for a PC and almost three times faster than top-of-the-line microSD cards. Additionally, this memory handles up to 45,000 and 40,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) for random reading and writing respectively
The card is understandably targeted at users who are looking to create and consume 4K content or multitask while watching 4K content on a split screen.
Samsung says these UFS chips are compact and smaller than a microSD card and can store up to 47 Full HD movies on the vast storage.
