I remember Samsung and other TV companies few years back touting 3D as a must have feature in a new television set and even invested heavily to bring it to everyone’s home. Disappointingly, things didn’t go as planned for them despite continued efforts and now Samsung has confirmed that they’ll drop 3D functionality from its 2016 TV models.
Samsung says low consumer demand and the fact that the amount of content produced in 3D was close to zero, there was no motivation for consumers to invest in a new television set that offered 3D functionality.
Samsung however, is banking on the Quantum Dot Display technology found in its new SUHD TV and VR to give a more immersive experience.
