In a bid to keep customers tied into its ecosystem, Samsung will launch a phone upgrade program in South Korea. The program is expected to start from this week and will allow its customers in the domestic market to switch to a new flagship device every 12 months.
According to Reuters, customers buying either of the new Galaxy S7 devices on March 11 will be offered to sign up for the program where they would pay the price of the device and a monthly fee of 7,700 won ($6.35), allowing them to upgrade to the next Galaxy S or Galaxy Note device after 12 months.
The program will be offered through Samsung Card – another Samsung subsidiary on a 24-month installment plan.
