Samsung seems to be on track to reveal its first ever foldable phone, reports Forbes. According to Gregory Lee, President and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications America, Samsung’s foldable phones are “right around the corner,” which lines up with its timeline of producing foldable displays in 2016-17. Lee claims cost is the biggest hindrance of manufacturing such displays but it will eventually come to the market once it’s within consumer’s reach.
Samsung was most likely the first company to confirm their development of flexible displays but has grown quiet over the years.
The confirmation from Lee also comes close to Lenovo’s announcement, who showed couple of concepts – a smartwatch-phone hybrid and a tablet-phone hybrid, both utilising foldable displays.
