Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge come with water resistant protection and the US-exclusive Galaxy S7 active is said to best it by offering protection better than regular Galaxy S7 family. However, a report by Consumer Reports begs to differ. The organisation tested Samsung’s claim and put it in a tank to simulate under five feet of water for 30 minutes.
The result? First Galaxy S7 active’s screen malfunctioned with touchscreen not working and bubbles forming in both the cameras. Second unit of the same device achieved a similar fate with display flickering and water and moisture seeping in the SIM slot and camera lenses.
Samsung says the phones Consumer Reports tested maybe a “defective” one as Galaxy S7 active is “one of the most rugged phones to date”.
Consumer Reports, however, still lauds the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge who passed the similar water immersion test with flying colours.
