Samsung today announced two new devices under its affordable J series. The Galaxy J2 (2016) is the first device to be unveiled at an event in India that improves on the features from last year and brings in some new features. Aesthetically, the device is different from Samsung has been producing in the last few years and now comes with Smart Glow, which Samsung touts it to be the next-gen notification system. Smart Glow allows to colour-code contacts, apps and phone usage alerts.
Apart from that, the phone is a standard affair with a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 5 megapixel on the front. Additionally, the phone has 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot up to 128GB, 2600mAh battery, LTE support, S Bike support and Android Marshmallow.
The phone also comes with ‘TST’ or Turbo Speed Technology that claims to load apps up to 40 percent faster than devices with double the RAM. In reality, TST will work with native apps as they have been reworked to consume less RAM and supports proactive app management that automatically shuts down idle processes.
The phone will go on sale in India from July 10 for Rs. 9,750.
