Samsung has announced the mass production of its latest application processor targeted at budget smartphones and IoT devices. The Exynos 7 Quad 7570 is built on 14nm process technology and is also the first Exynos processor to fully integrate a Cat 4 LTE 2CA modem and connectivity solutions like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, frequency modulation (FM) and global navigation satellite system (GNSS).
Exynos 7570 chipset is 20 percent smaller and is equipped with four 14nm Cortex-A53 cores that boosts CPU performance by up to 70 percent and 30 percent improvement in power efficiency compared to a chip built on 28nm.
Additionally, the new Exynos chip supports screen resolution up to WXGA, record and playback of videos in Full HD and improved ISP (image signal processor) for 8MP/13MP front and back cameras.
Samsung’s been using the superior 14nm FinFET process for its flagship devices, which started from the Galaxy S6 family and has now expanded for the Galaxy S7 series and Galaxy Note7. This is the first time Samsung is using this process meant for affordable devices.
