As expected, Samsung has announced its new smartwatches at the IFA 2016. The Gear S3 classic (above) and Gear S3 frontier (below) are the two new smartwatches from the Gear S3 family that combines good looks and latest in mobile technology. With the Gear S3 frontier, Samsung is trying to target someone who’s looking for a rugged look with style and function whereas with the Gear S3 classic, it’s the minimalistic, elegant style is the selling point.
Both smartwatches have similar set of features but the thing that sets the frontier variant apart from the classic is the support for LTE that makes it a truly standalone smartwatch. Additionally, both the watches have 4GB of built-in memory, MST support for Samsung Pay, 22mm band support, heart rate sensor, wireless charging, built-in GPS, up to 4 days of battery life and 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a 360×360 resolution support, full colour Always On display and covered with Gorilla Glass SR+.
The Gear S3 watches will also have emergency functions like SOS and location tracking capabilities to alert family, friends and emergency professionals about crisis situations.
