Samsung’s answer to Apple Pay – Samsung Pay is celebrating its first anniversary in the United States. Samsung says the acceptance of the service has been great in the last one year and in United States, the service is supported by over 500 banks and credit unions, representing over 80 percent of the debit and credit card market.
This is a significant number when it comes to payment support but Samsung is in fact, expanding the service to search for coupons right from inside the app. They have partnered with Quotient Technology Inc. allowing the users to “search, save and redeem coupons at select retailers directly within the app.”
Additionally, the new update will also add cloud restore service to restore membership, gift and Samsung Reward cards when a user moves to a new device.
To celebrate the anniversary Samsung Pay is offering users over $100,000 in prizes today, including 365 customers winning Gear S2.
Samsung Pay is a mobile payment service that enables users to pay through the phones wirelessly through NFC or at a normal POS kiosk with MST technology.
Samsung Pay is currently available on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7 active, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 active, Galaxy Note7 and Galaxy Note5.
