Tizen may have somewhat been a lost cause when it comes to smartphones but Tizen is very much the heart of many TVs, wearables and IoT products that Samsung sells and will sell. Today, in an attempt to garner more developer support for its platform, Samsung announced a collaboration with Microsoft to enable .NET support for Tizen.
What this means is that developers will be able to develop apps for the Samsung platform in C# and get their hands dirty with the first preview of Visual Studio Tools for Tizen. The preview supports mobile application development with device emulators and an extension to Visual Studio with full IntelliSense and debugging capabilities. However, if you were looking to develop apps for Smart TVs, wearables or IoT devices, you’ll have to wait as Samsung will add their support in future releases.
