Samsung and Qualcomm are close business partners and at the eve of announcing Qualcomm’s new chip today, the company confirmed that its Snapdragon 835 processor will use Samsung’s 10nm FinFET process technology. The foundry collaboration will allow Qualcomm to use Samsung’s best available process, allowing up to a 30% increase in area efficiency with 27% higher performance or up to 40% lower power consumption.
The new Snapdragon chip is under production and will make its way to commercial devices, including Samsung’s Galaxy S8 in first half of 2017.
