It seems by the time Samsung is ready to unveil the Galaxy S8, we’ll pretty much know everything about the device. The latest leak comes by way of a BGR, who has published a detailed report on what the device(s) will have along with some high-quality live pictures to give us a good look.
The picture you see above is the Galaxy S8 and is a “smaller version” in the Galaxy S8 series. The series will have a Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, which will have a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch display respectively but unlike the previous Galaxy S phones (S6 and S7 specifically) where Samsung had a regular and an edge display variant, both the Galaxy S8 variants will boast the edge display.
The report says despite the large screen, the phones are narrower than expected due to curvy Super AMOLED display and form factor. Moreover, the phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8890 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phones will also support expandable memory via a microSD card slot and will adhere to the IP68 standard for water and dust resistance.
At the back, the phones will have a 12 megapixel camera, fingerprint sensor whereas the front will sport an 8 megapixel camera and iris scanner, in addition to the display. Moreover, there will also be a dedicated button for what is believed to belong to Samsung’s virtual assistant, Bixby.
The hype surrounding Samsung’s flagship devices run high every year but the Galaxy S8 seems to be special as it will be the first major device from Samsung after they stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7 due to battery issues.
Samsung has scheduled an Unpacked event later this month on March 29 to unveil the device in New York. The retail sale is expected to be sometime in the third week of April.
