Samsung has teamed up with Asiana Airlines and SK Telecom to launch a special Galaxy S8 Asiana edition phone. This special edition caters to frequent Asiana Airline flyers as Samsung allows to purchase the device at a discount by redeeming their Asiana frequent flyer miles. Limited to 2,000 units in the pre-order period, the phone can be pre-ordered till 17th of this month on Asiana’s website where customers can redeem 30,000 miles to get a discount.
So what’s different in the Asiana edition Galaxy S8? Well, nothing much if you consider the hardware. On the software side, however, the phone comes pre-installed with the Asiana app to enable flight booking and check-in as well as Asiana design theme with a customised boot up and shutdown splash screen.
The special Galaxy S8 Asiana edition includes 64GB Galaxy S8 and 64GB/128GB Galaxy S8+ and to give you a quick rundown on both the devices, the phones are equipped with Android 7 Nougat, 5.8-inch (Galaxy S8) and 6.2-inch (Galaxy S8+) Super AMOLED display, Exynos 8895, 4GB RAM, microSD card slot (up to 256GB), 12-megapixel f/1.7 sensor on the back and an upgraded 8-megapixel sensor on the front with f/1.7 aperture, IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, Bixby virtual assistant and a 3000mAh/3500mAh (Galaxy S8/Galaxy S8+) with USB Type-C support and wireless charging.
This is not the first time Samsung has collaborated with Asiana. Last year as well, Samsung announced a special Asiana edition of Galaxy S7.
