As expected, Samsung’s latest flagship phones – Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have gone on sale. The phones will be available in four countries, US, Canada, South Korea, Puerto Rico initially and will roll out in other markets in the coming days.
Unlike the Galaxy S6 and the S7 series, the phones, this time come with dual edge displays that take up the whole front area. Dubbed Infinity Display, the Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch screen while the Galaxy S8+ features a 6.2-inch screen, both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and edge functionality.
The phones are either equipped with Samsung’s 10nm Exynos 8895 processor or Snapdragon 835 (depending on the market), 4GB or 6GB RAM (Korea only), Gigabit LTE and Wi-Fi, 8 megapixel f/1.7 camera on the front, 12 megapixel f/1.7 camera at the back, iris scanner, fingerprint sensor and 3000/3500mAh battery.
The phones also support Samsung’s latest accessories and services like the Bixby, which is Samsung’s latest virtual assistant that learns, recommends and executes; Samsung DeX Station that allows to connect the phone to a monitor to give a PC-like experience; Samsung Connect for IoT management; Samsung Health and Samsung Pay.
Indian customers interested in the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ can pre-book the device from any local retailer or online through Flipkart and receive a wireless charger for free. The phones go on sale in India from May 5.
