Samsung Pay expands to four new markets

April 27, 2017 By Siddhanth 1 Comment

Samsung Pay

Samsung today confirmed that their Samsung Pay service will be available in four new regions. The service will go live in Sweden and United Arab Emirates (UAE) and enter early access in Hong Kong and Switzerland. UAE and Sweden will be Samsung’s first markets in the Middle East and Nordic respectively, showing Samsung’s focus on expanding the service in newer markets.

Samsung Pay in UAE and Sweden accepts membership loyalty cards and even pre-paid cards in Sweden, in addition to a regular credit and a debit card.

Samsung Pay is better in comparison to Android Pay or Apple Pay due to Samsung Pay’s ability to work with POS machines that support NFC and the ones without. With non-NFC machines, Samsung phones take advantage of the built-in MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) technology, which the POS terminal detects as a swipe when the phone is kept close to the machine.
