Galaxy S8 Active

It goes without saying that the Galaxy S8 series is one of the most elegant and good looking phone to come out of Samsung’s stable. But if you’re looking to forgo looks for a more rugged form factor, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S8 Active. The phone will be available in the United States where users will be able to get the best of Galaxy S8 features but with improved durability.

The Galaxy S8 Active boasts a military-grade design that passes the MIL-STD-810G standard against a subset of 21 specific environmental conditions, including temperature, dust, shock/vibration, and low pressure/high altitude. Furthermore, Samsung claims the phone is water resistant to up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes and the screen is shatter-resistant up to 5 feet on a flat surface.

The phone still retains the 5.8-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, bigger 4,000mAh battery, 12 and 8 megapixel rear/front cameras respectively, dedicated Bixby button and more.

The phone will go on pre-order from tomorrow on AT&T in Meteor Gray or Titanium Gold and will be available in stores from August 11. Samsung hasn’t confirmed which other carriers will get the Active variant but did say that AT&T will sell the device exclusively for a limited time.
