Netflix adds HDR playback for Galaxy Note 8

Galaxy Note8

Netflix has quietly added support for HDR-enabled content for Samsung’s Galaxy Note8. First noticed by https://www.sammobile.com/2017/09/04/netflix-starts-supporting-hdr-galaxy-note-8/SamMobile, the inclusion of Samsung’s latest device makes it the first smartphone from the Korean giant to support Netflix HDR-streaming. The discontinued Galaxy Note7, Galaxy Tab S3 and the Galaxy S8 series supports HDR functionality.

Galaxy Note8 supports HDR10 format with the Infinity display capable of reaching up to 1,200 nits and is even the first ever Mobile HDR Premium certified smartphone by the UHD Alliance.

In addition to Samsung, HDR streaming on Netflix is currently supported on select LG and Sony smartphones.
