Samsung has confirmed their first Windows Mixed Reality – Samsung HMD Odyssey will go on sale in South Korea from next week. The hybrid headset will sell in Samsung Digital Plaza and other stores from November 21 at a price of 790,000 won.
For the uninitiated, Samsung HMD Odyssey is a collaboration between Samsung and Microsoft to deliver a premium virtual reality experience for Windows devices.
The head mounted display is equipped with dual 3.5-inch Super AMOLED displays along with 110-degree field of view and built-in AKG headphones that offer 360-degree Spatial Sound for surround sound effect.
HMD Odyssey’s USP is its ease of use that does not require an external sensor as the headset itself integrates the camera sensor and comes with two 6DOF motion controllers.
The device will work with any device running Windows 10 and having Intel Core i5 or higher CPU, 8GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 and above.
Asad says
HMD Odyssey has really brought a revolution in industry as it is already inter=grated with a sensor of camera along with 2 6DOF controllers for player’s motion. If we cmpare it with HTC vive on resolution basis we come to know that odyssey has better resolution of 1440 x 1600 i.e 2.3 MP/eye than vive resoltion which is 1080 x 1200 i.e 1.3 MP/eye. Today many virtual reality games have also been launched includng Project Cars2 and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. Thanks for a good article on Samsung Odyssey.
