Samsung today confirmed they’re the first in the industry to mass produce 256GB embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS) solution for automotive applications. The storage is now being shipped to auto manufacturers who are looking to integrate the next-gen infotainment system and smart dashboards. Samsung says the new eUFS solution is much better than eMMC because of the fact that it can work normally in temperatures varying between -40°C and 105°C compared to eMMC’s -25°C to 85°C while in operation and -40°C to 85°C in power-saving mode. Samsung has also embedded a sensor on the storage that will notify the processor in the car if the temperature exceeds the set level and regulate the clock speed to reduce the temperature.
The chip is based on JEDEC UFS 3.0 standard and in terms of speed, sequential read speeds can reach up to 850MB/s and random read operations at 45,000 IOPS.

Samsung is a great company whose inventions is increasing day by day. 256GB flash storage is very important product for automotive industry as the ideas of driverless vehicles is being popular among people. Navigation data per second, the whole control system and feedback needs more storage capacity. It is a general trend in market these days to introduce large storage capacity in devices like rugged phone Doogee s60 which has a 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM. Moreover, its self clock regulation feature is reall a new thing that is being intrduced in market. I personally think flash’s demand will be increased in coming days.
