Samsung announced the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at MWC last week and today they’ve announced for the Indian market. Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ retains the same 18.5:9 Infinity Display that the company introduced with the Galaxy S8 family but increases the Quad HD+ Curved Display, which is 5.8-inch for the Galaxy S9 and 6.2-inch for the Galaxy S9+. Both are powered by Samsung’s Exynos chipset but the smaller variant sports 4GB RAM whereas the bigger one has 6GB RAM and 3000mAh and 3500mAh battery respectively.
There’s 64GB internal storage with support for a microSD card slot, fast charge and wireless charging support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, LTE Cat. 18 support, Samsung Pay and DeX Pad. The phones are secured by Knox 3.1 and supports three biometric authentication options – iris, fingerprint sensor and facial recognition.
The devices look like an incremental update but has really stepped up on the camera front with 12MP dual sensors (Galaxy S9+) at the back supporting Samsung Dual Aperture (f/1.5-f/2.4). The feature automatically lets in more light when it’s dark and less light when it’s too bright for improved pictures. Moreover, the camera is now able to record slow-motion videos at 960fps, AR Emoji that scans and creates a 3D model of the user’s face and Bixby supporting live translation, convert currency, etc.
Finally, the phones have stereo speakers tuned by AKG and surround sound by Dolby Atmos.
