Samsung’s SSD X5 is a portable storage device based on Thunderbolt 3 technology offering exceptional data speeds. This device is ideal for professionals and content creators. SSD X5 also features NVMe technology of which Samsung is one of the promoter. The SSD X5 uses Thunderbolt 3 technology that provides a bandwidth of 40Gbps, 4x faster than USB 3.1 and has a read speed of up to 2800 MB/s. This is 5.2x faster than SATA interface of portable SSDs and up to 25.5 times faster than external Hard-disk drives. The SSD X5 has a write speed of 2300 MB/s. A 20GB 4K UHD video can be transferred in just 12 seconds. This is a 2TB storage drive and is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS.
The X5 looks prremium and is built from metal. The bottom of the drive features non-slip mat. The X5 can withstand accidental drops of up to 2 meters, thanks to the shock-resistant internal frame and rugged metal housing. The SSD also has a heat sink and dynamic thermal guard technology to keep the device cool. Besides this, it also comes with AES 256-bit hardware data encryption and optional password protection.
The X5 will be available from 3 September 2018 globally. The suggested retail price of the SSD is $399.99 for the 500GB model, $699.99 for the 1TB model and $1,399.99 for the 2TB model. The SSD X5 comes with three years warranty.
