Samsung announced the 48-megapixel triple rotating camera phone the Galaxy A80 for a price of Rs. 47,990. The highlight of the phone are the rotating triple cameras that pop-up from the back of the phone and rotate. The main camera is 48-megapixel, 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 3D depth lens. It also supports video recording at 4K UHD.
Galaxy A80 features Samsung’s New Infinity Display that is 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 730 Octa-Core processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The battery of the phone is 3700mAh with 25W fast charging support and sports Type-C port. The phone comes installed with Samsung Pay and Knox security. The device features an in-display finger print scanner and runs on Android 9 with Samsung One UI.
Galaxy A80 will be available to pre-book from 22 July 2019 to 31 July 2019 in Ghost White, Phantom Black and Angel Gold colours. Consumers who pre-book can avail one-time screen replacement. Additionally, as part of the launch offer, consumers who purchase Galaxy A80 are eligible for a 5% cashback on Citibank credit cards. Galaxy A80 will go on sale from 1 August 2019 across all retail stores, e-Shop, Samsung Opera House and all major leading online channels.
The only deterrent we believe is the price of the phone, at Rs. 48,999 one can purchase OnePlus 7 Pro with flagship Snapdragon 855 processor, albeit with 6GB RAM, spend more and you get the 8GB version at Rs. 52,999. The other recently launched phone with Snapdragon 730 is the Redmi K20, which also features a triple camera setup, in-display fingerprint scanner, 6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage option. This phone is almost priced at 50% less cost than the A80. On the other hand, there is also Samsung’s flagship phone, the Galaxy S10e edition which can be purchased by spending marginally more.
