As per the recent report by HIS Markit, Samsung managed to retain its top position in smartphone shipments globally for Q2 2019. The shipments of smartphones increased by 6 percent YoY as it shipped 75.1 million units. The global benefit can also be accounted on the factor that Huawei is not present in the US and some international markets. The market share of Samsung increased by 2 percent to reach 23 percent in Q2 2019 as compared to Q2 2018.
With the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series, the Korean electronics manufacturer would be wanting to gain some momentum quickly.
Apple slipped to the number four position. It has been struggling to keep pace with Chinese manufacturers like Huawei, OPPO and Xiaomi who are second, third and fifth in the list. Apple shipments declined to 35.3 million iPhones in the second quarter, down 14.6 percent from 41.3 million units one year ago.
