Samsung DeX is a nifty feature that Samsung first introduced in 2017, expanding a smartphone’s functionality. The service has gone through quite a few iterations but the main objective has been to offer a desktop-like experience via the connected smartphone. The DeX for PC, for instance, allows users to check the phone’s notifications, take calls as well as drag and drop content between devices. DeX for PC supported both MacOS and Windows.
However, according to a notification that is being sent out to users, Samsung will soon retire the DeX for PC service on Mac OS and Windows 7. Samsung will stop supporting the service on all versions of Mac OS and on Windows 7 beginning January 2022.
In other words, Samsung will stop releasing future updates but the service will continue to work if you have got the app installed on your PC, which you can do now via the download links below.
Windows 10/11 and users using Dex for PC wirelessly will be able to use the service without any issues.
