Samsung has started the official rollout of One UI 8.5 with its home country South Korea getting first dibs. The update targets communication, creativity and device security across Galaxy mobile phones and tablets.
One UI 8.5 comes with some handy features like the Photo Assist that gains a continuous editing mode, letting users generate and refine images without saving between iterations. Quick Share now recognises people in photos and suggests sending them directly to the relevant contacts and can even share it with the Apple users with AirDrop support.
For connectivity, Storage Share surfaces files from other Galaxy devices — including tablets, PCs, and compatible Samsung TVs — directly within the My Files app. Security additions include Theft Protection, a Failed Authentication Lock that triggers after repeated failed biometric or PIN attempts, and expanded Identity Check coverage across more device settings.
The update is available for the Galaxy S25 series and will be gradually rolled out for other devices and regions.
